Why 93 percent MBA students are not Employable? (MBA Problem) - Fizah Mughees

 Introduction

A halfway point in the tens of thousands of management graduates churned out by the 5,500 B-schools in the country, only 7 per cent turn out to be employable, says a study conducted by ASSOCHAM. Except the IIMs, only a few of these management institutes are able to boast of quality management education that can help their graduates secure employment.

MBA graduates are spending lakhs of rupees on their management education, but after graduating, most of them are earning a measly 8000 to 10,000 rupees per month-that too, only when they are able to find placements.

MBA job placement rates are down since the pandemic started. What’s most alarming: the decline in MBA jobs (34%) has been steeper than the decline in overall jobs (27%), for the period between May 2019 and May 2020. https://pin.it/3xKJKcy

Drowning in debt, recent MBA classes have struggled. Of the 2020 MBA grads who’d already accepted a full-time gig pre-pandemic, around half had their start date delayed or completely rescinded.

The landscape is similar for 2021 MBA grads. Nearly half of business schools reported an overall decline in job opportunities for MBA students this past fall, according to the MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance.

Why 90% MBA graduates are Unemployed?

But the biggest reason behind the decline in job offers to MBAs is the outdated curriculum. Excluding graduates from top 20 colleges, only 7% of MBA students from Indian business schools got jobs immediately after the completion of the course, an ASSOCHAM report said last year.

MBA Jobs Are Difficult To Secure for Recent Grads.

“Graduation came, still no job. A couple of interviews, but no offers.” The five companies that reached out to her pre-pandemic went silent once Covid-19 hit. So, about a month ago, she abandoned her job search and started her own business instead.

“A student with a 4.0 GPA who’s applying for at least five jobs a week and involved in extracurricular activities should not have had that much trouble securing a job, or even an interview. The Covid-19 pandemic definitely made the job search much more difficult for recent MBA grads. Many of my friends in the class are still having trouble finding a job.”

“There are a lot of graduates with similar skill sets, and not a lot of jobs available,” “I believe the MBA is not as valuable as it once was.”

MBA Other’s Can Improve Your Job Prospects.

Before Covid, I believed that an MBA is not worth it. The value of this program in no way justifies the astronomical cost. (Full disclosure: I am the cofounder-CEO of a for-profit business education platform).

Musk recently announced, “There’s the M.B.A.-ization of America, which I think is maybe not that great. There should be more focus on the product or service itself.”

MBAs Degree Crises

As jobs for MBA graduates downfall, so does the value of the MBA. Luckily, there are plenty of MBA alternatives out there. The best part: others degree programs are flexible and fast, so you don’t have to quit your job to skill-up and network!

Through 90s to 2000s, Pakistan produced a shit load of business graduates, particularly those in Masters of Business Administration, or MBA programs. The natural result of all this orgy came in the form of a generation of misemployed or unemployed MBAs!

Teachers: No matter how stigmatic it may appear, some MBAs feel clearly honored sailing the classroom environment. Fahim Abbasi, an IBA grad, chose the track and is a laudable educationist figure and entrepreneur.

Researchers: Did you do your MBA being studish. Better stay like one and enjoy great perks of being a research analyst. No extra-ordinary social skills required. No word jugglery. Earn easily with precision and growth.

Content Writers: Oh, that’s my field these days (in fact, for the past 5 years). It rewards well and does not suck your labor if you reap quality.

Online Traders: Did marketing / management or supply chain majors in MBA and work dishearteningly? Go make an online store or facilitator at eBay or ODesk. E-commerce is the future of business.

At the End

Don’t resolve for good, demand great — that’s the sales line for one of the mobile handset these days. If you feel you are underemployed, misemployed or even unemployed because your MBA just isn’t good enough for the market, create one and stay there. Remember, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
